As a leader, Catalyst’s first instinct is strategy and taking a moment to use her head allows Catalyst to take a tactical advantage when on the battlefield. Unlike Vanguard, she doesn’t charge straight into enemy clusters, but rather how she can best utilize her arsenal to flank them from all sides. Catalyst’s function abilities allow her to trap and trick the enemies.
Like her allies, Catalyst’s functions give her the tools she needs to solve each combat scenario which helps us define, Intelligent Action. It is up to the player to figure out which function combinations will be not only most effective against enemies, but will also get maximum experience points. Although support functions make up a huge portion of Catalyst’s style, her ability to trick enemies is also key to survival.
First, let’s take a look at the environmental function known as Temporal Rift. Temporal Rift creates a trap in the ground that resembles a black hole. The Temporal Rift captures enemies and stuns large groups of them at a time, allowing the Capital Intellects to open fire without fear of being attacked back. Temporal Rift is great during battles with Upgraded enemies or enemies that have ranged weapons allowing players to get a few hits in before enemies are mobile again.
Holo Image is another function in Catalyst’s arsenal. Holo Image replicates three holograms of Catalyst and gives her three times the firing power. Not only are these images damaging enemies, but like her Drone Gun, they’re also distractions. Enemies will target the fake Catalysts, allowing the real Catalyst to combine this function with Repair Drone and rush to aid her allies and any Drone Guns that may already be on the battlefield.
This final function blog wraps up Catalyst's entire arsenal and allows for a completed perspective on each character class. With the ability to customize each characters weaponry, players can rotate between weapons based upon the gameplay experience they are looking for. This customization allows for tactical thinking before entering different levels in Livelock and facing different enemies. Finding the perfect combinations may be key to survival! Be sure to take a look at the previous blogs the feature Vanguard and Hex's arsenals and in order to stay up to date on Livelock.
