Free MMORPG - Perfect World International - PWI - Genesis Round-Up

By frankieraye | Tue 22 Feb 2011 08:40:44 PM PST

One more week... one more week...

For this final week of waiting, we just wanted to give you all a final little round-up of all the new features that you'll be seeing in PWI: Genesis. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the literary rollercoaster that's about to take place before your eyes.

New Race - Earthguard

The Earthguard are the natural protectors of Perfect World. An ancient, subterranean race, they were selected by Pan'Gu himself to receive the gift of a "Third Eye". The Earthguard have trained all their lives with the knowledge that, at the onset of an age of darkness and destruction, they would be called to action and depended upon. To others they may seen supernaturally calm, and at times, aloof, but this is only a byproduct of their singular motive—To guide the forces of good through the coming calamity.

Two New Classes - Seeker and Mystic

The Earthguard Seeker -- A dominant warrior who deftly manipulates a colossal blade; his sword skills are a sight to behold.

Seekers have a long, vicious history with Wraithkind, so much so that their abilities have been honed not for self-improvement, but out of necessity. The burden of their race's survival falls squarely on their broad shoulders, for these are the warriors who occupy the brutal front lines in battle.

Though disciplined and methodical on the battlefield, a restless power-mongering nature often compels these earthen champions away from wherever they currently are, and into the world of the unknown.

The Earthguard Mystic -- An intelligent and versatile protector of the planet, this poised magic-user absorbs surrounding energies and unleashes them in a manner to her liking, whether it be a warm, healing glow, or a vicious kinetic bolt.

If the Seeker is the backbone of the Earthguard army, then the Mystic is the bundle of muscle and nerves that keeps it protected and flexible. Proficient in several fields of magic, Mystics are comfortable serving many roles in and around the battlefield from dealing direct ranged damage, to providing tactical heals, to dishing out powerful status effects.

Guild Bases

The nature of the Guild Base is to function as an actual headquarters for your faction; it's an instanced area that's restricted to outsiders, and a place that's chock full of guild activities that will take time and effort to complete. But when you do complete its challenges, you and your guild will be roundly rewarded for your efforts with all manner of various unique prizes.

Contribution is used to purchase the actual items that are available in your base, for example, the gear from the armory or the buffs from the Alchemy lab. Contribution can be gained by doing certain base-specific kill quests.

Guild Materials are used for upgrading the wings of your base, and they come in five different varieties. By upgrading the different wings of your base, you'll gain access to better items and quests for purchase. Guild Materials can be collected by doing certain Guild Base quests and from the new 40 vs 40 Faction Wars.  (!)

Territory War Changes + Reset!

Some time ago, the rewards for TW were reduced by a very large percentage. It was a very unpopular change, both on the forums and on our servers. The uproar was not only heard from our very vocal playerbase, but also seen in our server statistics. With each passing week it became abundantly clear that fewer and fewer players were taking part in Territory Wars.

Well, we've taken your feedback to heart, we've spoken with the devs, and we're pleased to announce that TW Rewards are reverting to their former levels starting February 16th!

In addition, there will be one more major change. Due to the fact that:

1)  Genesis is our biggest expansion yet, and adding new territories to the TW map

2)  The TW landscape has been somewhat diluted by the fact that many players decided not to participate in TW for the past few months.

We will be resetting the TW Map during the Genesis Maintenance on March 1st!

Runecrafting

Runecrafting is basically the creation of consumable items that apply a thirty to sixty minute buff to the weapon of your choice.

At lower skill levels of Runecrafting, the only possible buffs are the standard +STR/+DEX/+VIT/+MAG, but once you reach higher skills levels, you will gain the ability to craft runes that grant far more powerful buffs-- ones that can increase stats like +Crit, -Chan, and Atk/Def level. For this reason,  a guild with a master Runecrafter will see a significant advantage over the opposition, and herein lies another interesting aspect of the profession-- it's going to be a far more exclusive skill than any of the existing crafting professions.

We can't wait to show you absolutely everything Genesis has to offer, so be here on March 2nd!

See you there!
