Neverwinter Xbox One: Upcoming Features & Fixes for Rise of Tiamat

By Andy (StrumSlinger) | Tue 23 Jun 2015 10:00:00 AM PDT

With Neverwinter: Rise of Tiamat on the horizon, we’ve compiled a list of major features, changes and fixes that will go live when the dragon queen rises. We’re listening to the community’s feedback and are working to make sure we provide the optimal experience as you battle dragons and explore dungeons. That being said, we can’t wait to see just how our Xbox One players take on the Well of Dragons and Tiamat herself.

Below are just a few the changes that will be present with the launch of Neverwinter: Rise of Tiamat:

Performance

One of the most important areas for our team to tackle with our launch was the performance issues that players were facing. Our team found and eliminated an intermittent stall of five or more seconds that caused framerate drops for players. In addition to this, we have made other performance improvements that will ensure that 25 adventurers can tackle the five-headed dragon fight without reducing the number of players that the Tiamat fight can handle.

Queues, Vote-Kicking and Changing Instances

In addition to performance issues and based on community feedback, we also wanted to make sure we tackle issues with queues and the vote-kicking system. New players in an instance cannot be kicked right away; there is a three minute buffer before kicking is allowed, but we firmly encourage adventurers to not kick your own party members unless absolutely necessary. Queues will also respect roles when refilling, meaning if a Great Weapon Fighter is kicked, only a DPS can fill that role again. Finally, if a certain number of players are kicked from an instance, the queue will stop refilling completely, leaving anyone left to fend for themeselves. Believe us, you don't want to be alone with Chartillifax.

When it comes to changing instances, we've implemented sorting options to make it easier to find "56 up." You can also move to a guild member's instance through the guild UI now.

Mini-map

For those who noticed in our official Neverwinter: Rise of Tiamat trailer, we've added in the much-requested mini-map! No longer do you need to open the main menu just to see where you are; you can now simply look at the bottom right of the screen. The mini-map even dims when in combat - unless you're on a mount - so it doesn't get in your way when you're trying to take down Tiamat. For those who enjoyed their adventuring without a mini-map, it can also be toggled on/off in the options menu.

Chat Filter

Nothing is more frightening than Tiamat herself, but constant chat spam is a close second, which is why we've added in a chat filter. You may now choose channel colors, select which channels appear on each of your tabs and also rename tabs to your liking.

PvP Stats

We also have a few changes in store for those who prefer felling your fellow adventurers in PvP. You can now compare yourself to others in the leaderboards and see your match history for the last 20 games you participated in. Whether this has you basking in prestige over your win streak or crying in your history of defeat, it sure is a nifty to thing to have.

Auction House

For the Auction House, we've added a sort option for search results so you can further hone in on the exact item you want. To further aid you in your ventures through the Auction House, tooltips on gear now show comparisons with your currently equipped items.

Quest Rewards

Ever wonder what reward you'll be getting right when you start killing monsters for it? Never fear! Quests in the Journal now show their respective rewards.

Shared Bank Account

In another effort to address more community feedback, we have fixed the issue that prevented players from putting gold in your shared bank.

Our team will have further updates including full patch notes and release date for Neverwinter: Rise of Tiamat soon. Stay tuned on Twitter and Facebook for more information.
