Hello World,

Ten years ago, a group of intellectuals discovered that planet Earth was about to be eradicated by the burst of a gamma ray -- this was The Cataclysm. As a last resort to preserve humanity, this group uploaded human consciousness into the digital network. Now it is up to a few of those intellectuals to unite what remains of the fractured human consciousness against all odds. If they succeed, humanity will live a life that is vastly different than the life prior. They will have to rebuild from the ashes left in the wake of the gamma ray.

Livelock is set in the age of the machine and is a wasteland of artificial intelligence. Each level of Livelock features debris and decay that reflect in the atmosphere of the game. Rogue clusters wander Earth with their own definitions of survival and have no use for a planet that is full of life. Earth represents chaos and waste.

Major landmarks are no more and their meaning has been lost with the destruction. Bridges are hanging off the land with chunks of their metal frames missing. Wires dangle freely with no electricity coursing through them so that when night falls everything goes dark. Possessions no longer serve a purpose and have long since rusted after the fall of civilizations. They’ve crumbled with no one left to admire them.

All nature is dead. Earth once colored in beauty is simply breathless and gray. Trees are dead, their roots no longer able to pull nutrients for green leaves. The ground is scorched and covered in fissions that whip up dust from all the debris. The birds are gone and their songs no longer play in the skies, the only thing that remains is an eerie silence.
