Neverwinter

Developer Blog: Tomb of the Nine Gods

Deep in the heart of the jungles of Chult, a mysterious and dark presence calls to adventurers, beckoning them to find the secret entrance to the final resting place of the Nine Trickster Gods of Omu. Unknown to all who follow this calling is the fact that this tomb is actually a death trap created by the archlich Acererak to attract the bravest and strongest and lure them to their death. None who have crossed the threshold of this dungeon have lived to tell others about it – keeping its location, its traps, and its prizes all secret. The closest anyone has ever come to revealing the contents of this tomb is an otherworldly scream that can sometimes be faintly heard reverberating up from the ground in the darkest corners of the jungles. However, it remains unclear if these screams come from those dying to the dungeon’s secrets or if they belong to one of the dungeon’s presumed inhabitants.

Releasing with Neverwinter’s Tomb of Annihilation module, the Tomb of the Nine Gods is a new epic level dungeon that requires a higher level of group coordination than any previous dungeon – both in defeating the bosses but also in navigating the traps scattered throughout the Tomb. Acererak is a constant presence throughout, as he taunts and chides the players – trying to get them deeper into the dungeon where increasingly more difficult and deadly encounters reside.

To start this dungeon, players must first complete the "Blessings of Ubtao" task from the Jungles of Chult campaign as well as have an item level of at least 12,000. Those who have achieved both these requirements and are able to reach the end of this dungeon can look forward to rewards that include Seals of the Brave. These may be exchanged at the Seal Trader in Protector's Enclave or Port Nyanzaru for powerful Primal Armor or other high quality goods.
