My name is I’m Marc-Antoine Brisson, and I'm a 3D Artist on Livelock.
Growing up, what were you favorite games?
|
Wow! Where to start. I was a huge gamer as a kid. Huge! Of course when I saw Super Mario Bros. on the NES for the first time, I almost passed out! I cried for weeks to my parents that I wanted a Nintendo. (And, well, my plan worked… Yessss!) My favorite games as a kid were The Legend of Zelda, Punch out!!, Star Tropics, Final Fantasy, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Kid Icarus, DuckTales, Mega Man II, Dragon Warrior, Double Dragon, Rygar, Metroid and I can go on forever. I’ve always had a thing for RPGs so on the later consoles, I’ve been playing them extensively! Building your character and getting stronger is something I really enjoy in games and it keeps me playing them for a long time! |
What made you want to become a game developer? |
I remember playing Super Mario Bros. at home and saying that one day, I would make a game. I totally remember that. I was always stunned by the visuals of a game. I’m still super excited today when a game with amazing graphics comes out. I have to play it even if the game is not well rated. So yeah, I took a very long path before I become a 3d artist. I was a graphic designer for almost 10 years before I took the jump in gaming. And damn, it’s so much fun! Sure it’s hard work but the reward is so great that I don’t see myself doing anything else ever! |

I’ve had this crazy idea in my head for a long time! I really want to make an illustrated book for young children. My wife is a speech pathologist and she would bring the educative side. And of course, I would do the visuals. I want to tackle subjects rarely discussed with young children. Like death, for example. Ok now I sound creepy haha! But I will do it one day, for sure. But right now my focus is on Livelock and making sure we deliver the best game possible! |
What can players see or engage with in Livelock that you are directly responsible for? |
Working for a small indie studio offered me the chance to work on pretty much everything in the game, art-wise. Rigging, animating, modeling, texturing, etc. I spent more time on the environment visuals than other areas, though. We’re just a few artists here and we’re all generalists so we share the load between us. It’s great! I can’t wait to see players walking through a level that I created. It’s going to be awesome! |
What are some office pastime that you enjoy? |
Ok well, it’s not a pastime. It’s really serious. We play competitive sports games during lunch breaks; the NHL series being the ones we always return to. (Don’t forget we’re Canadian, eh!) We trash talk a lot and it’s a good time. The downside, though, is that my heart can only take so much. We’re so competitive! But you know… it’s alright… Because I’m the best in the office! BOOM! |
