Elemental Evil Handbook: Intro to the Dread Ring

By Andy (StrumSlinger) | Wed 19 Aug 2015 10:00:00 AM PDT

Shadowmantle introduces its own campaign system, additional Boons, the Valindra’s Tower Dungeon, the Dread Legion Skirmish and Collections, among other things. In this entry of the Elemental Evil Handbook, we’ll give a small introduction to the way the Dread Ring campaign works and its differences from Sharandar.

As one of four new campaigns that will be added to Elemental Evil in September, the Dread Ring is arguably the quickest to complete. However, adventurers will still need to be level 70 in order to begin Sergeant Knox’s introductory quest, which will eventually take them to the Ashen Battlefield. Aid Celeste and Makos along the way until you defeat Varkoss the Unliving to gain access to the Dread Ring, where Sergeant Knox will valiantly greet you once more.

Unlike Sharandar, the Dread Ring consists of one expansive map, which adventurers may travel through without having to unlock any gates. Due to this, there’s more variety when it comes to the daily quests – more than a dozen are available. The Dread Ring contains three lairs: the Dread Spire, the Death Forge and the Phantasmal Fortress, which act similar to Sharandar’s Gnarlroot Caves, The Witch Fen and Tower of Celadaine. Completing these lairs will reward you with an Arcane Coffer, which, when opened, may get you the Eye of Lathandar artifact.

Adventurers will encounter zombies, skeletons, Thayans, and Dread Warriors among other deadly – or undeadly – mobs. While slaying all the great monsters that come out of the Dread Ring, there are also shifting Contests, which change by the day making adventuring in the Dread Ring always different.

Once you acquire enough Dread Ring currency, you can unlock Valindra’s Tower where you can finally defeat Valindra once and for all! Or can you? More on Valindra’s Tower at a later date.

This sums up our introduction to the Dread Ring, which will come to Neverwinter Xbox One in September!
