Protect Pahvo!

By Ambassador Kael | Wed 29 Apr 2020 06:00:00 AM PDT

A living planet. While some may cite technicalities and term this a misnomer, the complex and interconnected lifeforms that call the planet Pahvo their home are the closest known match to such a phenomenon found in the vast expanses of our chartered galaxy. Despite the planet’s vibrant biomes and complex native life, it is largely defenseless against the invading forces that have attempted to claim and corrupt it for their own use. It’s up to you to come to the planet’s aid.

The Defense of Pahvo Event will include multiple TFOs, previously featured individually, in a combined Featured Event that will allow players to choose their favored way of defending Pahvo each day, while earning Daily Progress toward a new grand prize reward. Defend the system space above the planet by maintaining and operating a series of defensive satellites, or take to the vibrant wilds of the planet’s surface to stop Terran forces from corrupting its mysterious energies.

Participating in this Event will progress you in our second Event Campaign, working towards a Tier 6 Ship and 200 Lobi or 1000 Lobi (the same prize on both PC and Console), and give all players the opportunity to win a KIDD Drone Universal Kit Module for their entire account! Keep reading for details on these items, how you can participate in the Event, and what additional prizes may be earned.

And that’s not all – with today’s announcement, we’re revealing the next few months’ worth of upcoming content. Stay tuned until the end of this blog to have a look at the future of Star Trek Online.

Known Threats, Updated Rewards

Two existing activities will be participating in this Event:

Pahvo Dissension – Ground TFO

The I.S.S. Charon has been sucked through space, time, and across universes to crash land on Pahvo. Word of the planet’s unique nature has reached the Terran survivors and they are proceeding to agonize Pahvo into a weapon. Only you (and 4 other captains) can stop them!

Peril Over Pahvo – Space TFO

Enemy forces strike, seeking to control the enigmatic world of Pahvo! Rush to enable and defend a newly-established defensive blockade consisting of multiple configurations of satellites, while preventing various enemy factions from getting a foothold above the living planet.

While the action players will engage in during these TFOs have not changed for this event, a few minor adjustments have been made to each that will be present for the length of this Event’s run:

  • Each completion will reward a Choice of All Marks (replacing the usual Mark rewards)
  • Both TFOs have had their Cooldown Timers temporarily disabled
  • Both TFOs have been temporarily removed from Random TFO eligibility

Assessing the Situation

Viewing the details of this Event in-game is as simple as opening your Journal and navigating to the “Events” tab. From here, all of the pertinent information is at your fingertips, as are simple-to-use buttons that allow quick access to the associated Content for this Event.

As a core feature of the updated Event System, all Progress Points gained toward completion of the Event are shared across your entire Account, and all earned Progress is automatically tracked and applied toward completing the Event.

Players will be able to earn their Daily Progress once every 20 hours. Either of the above TFOs may be played as much as you like each day, so pick and choose how you prefer to gain Progress each day, and mix it up as much (or as little) as you like!

Event Campaign II

This Featured Event will be the first of a series of upcoming Events that will participate in the second installment of our multi-event system known as an Event Campaign. For Event Campaign II, a few changes have been made.

  1. More Events!

Event Campaign II will span a total of FOUR separate Featured Events, spanning the majority of the upcoming year of PC releases. As a result of this increase in length, the requirements for receiving the Campaign Grand Prize have been increased from 2,100 Progress to 2,800 Progress.

  1. More Prizes!

The Grand Prize for Event Campaign II will offer players a choice as to what they receive, between the two following options:

Option 1:

  • Z-Store Coupon for 100% Off a single Tier-6 Starship
  • 200 Lobi Crystals

Option 2:

  • 1,000 Lobi Crystals

This choice is only made once per Account, upon claiming the prize.

The core gameplay of this Event Campaign remains the same as the previous one:  Participate in multiple Events scheduled over the next several months, to earn progress towards an extremely valuable prize. All of the following aspects of this system remain unchanged:

  • Players may earn 50 Event Campaign Progress for each day they participate in an eligible event.
  • Buying out an eligible event will include up to 700 Event Campaign Progress.
    • Each event’s buyout only grants as much Event Campaign Progress as is relative to the amount paid, after pro-rated discounts are applied. This means that paying half price, (because you participated in 7 out of 14 of the required days so far) will grant you 350 Event Campaign Progress. Essentially, you get what you pay for.

Rewards

Accruing a total of 14 Days’ worth of Daily Progress will allow you to claim the Grand Prize of Defense of Pahvo Event. This reward includes all of the following:

Universal Kit Module – KIDD Drones

Once earned, every character on your account will be able to claim this unique Kit Module, which is the first ever released to possess a passive effect in addition to its activated ability. Complete details on this Kit’s capabilities is included later in this blog.

Other characters on your account may visit the “Reclaim Rewards” store interface to pick up their Kit Modules once you have collected this on any character.

3x Featured TFO Reward Boxes

Each gives a choice of 1x Specialization Point or an Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrade

25,000 Dilithium Ore

Issued immediately for use as you see fit!

(Note: The Featured TFO Boxes and Dilithium Ore are only rewarded once, to the first character on your account that claims the Grand Prize.)

Universal Kit Module – KIDD Drones

Completion of this Event will grant you this one-of-a-kind Kit Module, which marks the first time any Kit Module has offered a passive benefit while equipped to your character, in addition to its activated ability.

The Kinetically-Impelled Detachable Drones (or KIDDs) were originally created from parts from the crash site of the U.S.S. Hiawatha, by Commander Jett Reno. With only these semi-automated devices as her assistants, she managed to single-handedly save the lives of many critically-injured patients for more than 10 months.

This module has a Passive mode which will cause a Master KIDD Drone to be replicated and follow you in combat. While in this power-saving mode, the KIDDs will occasionally assist their owner in combat, but their capabilities are limited until the owner activates Separation Mode. Once separated, the three separate sub-units - collectively referred to as the KIDDs - become a multi-system combat unit that can damage and debilitate foes for a brief period of time. When Separation Mode wears off, the Master KIDD Drone will resume its power-saving follow behavior after a brief recharge.

Each Detached KIDD has its own unique suite of combat capabilities:

  • Central KIDD:
    • Bolt Attack (Phaser Damage)
    • Full Auto Sweep (AOE Phaser Damage)
  • Left KIDD:
    • Deploy Mine (Kinetic Damage)
    • Reinforce Shields (Shield Heal, Harden)
  • Right KIDD:
    • Tachyon Harmonics (Shield Drain, Knockback)
    • Diagnostic Scan (Heal, Damage Resist)

Bonus Rewards

After claiming the Grand Prize, you will unlock the option of earning additional Dilithium Ore each day that you continue participating in the content associated with the Borg Resurgence. Each day you earn the Daily Progress you will be automatically granted a bundle of Dilithium Ore.

This bonus reward will begin at 8,000 Dilithium Ore for the first day’s completion, then scales up with each subsequent bonus completion that you achieve. The more you play, the more you continue to earn!

Zen Buyout Option

For players interested in instantly completing the Defense of Pahvo Event – whether that is due to worries over finding the play time to complete it, or simply wanting to move immediately into earning Bonus Rewards – we will be offering a method for buying out.

Within the Event UI, an option will be presented that allows you to purchase the remaining progress that you need, for a scaling amount of Zen. The base price for this service will be 2,000 Zen, but every single Daily Progress that you earn will reduce that price on a percentage basis. Thus, if you have already earned 7 Daily Progress (half of the 14 required), this price will be reduced for you down to 1,000 Zen. The more you play, the cheaper the Buyout Option becomes, dynamically!

A Second Chance

Once the Defense of Pahvo Event has ended, your opportunity to earn Progress Points will have passed. However, the Event System will store the progress that you made long after the Event has expired. Based on this stored progress, the option to Buyout the rewards will remain available through a new “Second Chance” section of the Zen Store. The price for this buyout is the same as what is offered while the Event is active, and scales in the same manner based on your amount of Progress Points accrued.

Legacy Progress

As with previous Events, we will continue offering the opportunity for players to utilize their old Event tokens to apply toward this Event. To access this functionality, select the “Legacy Progress” button on the Event UI. This button will only be visible to players that have tokens available to trade in.

Availability

The Defense of Pahvo Event will begin on PC, Xbox One, and Playstation4 simultaneously, starting on May 7th, 2020. This Event will remain active until May 28th, 2020.
