Captured Jem’Hadar Attack Ships

Captain’s Log (Recorded on Stardate 86927.78 by Captain Va'Kel Shon, U.S.S. Belfast)

We were on a routine patrol in the Enocha system when we encountered an abandoned Jem'Hadar vessel.

At first I thought she was a damaged True Way ship. They've been active in this region of space, and that's the main reason the Belfast is here.

A closer examination of the craft, however, revealed several anomalies.

The design is out of date by several decades. Herthel thinks the ship is from the Dominion War, and I tend to agree. However, if this ship was abandoned during the war, then she should be showing signs of age. She doesn't have a scratch on her.

Our sensors picked up an unusually high level of neutrinos, but nothing else that might indicate the vessel's origin. There is no warp trail, and the usual antiproton trace that comes from Jem'Hadar engines is nonexistent.

If I didn't know better, I'd say someone just dropped this ship here like a forgotten toy. But how? And why?

I sent an away team over to secure the vessel. They tell me that all systems were offline but that the ship itself was prepped and ready for action. There were weapons in the armory, stores of ketracel-white, and everything was so new you could practically smell the paint.

All it was missing was a crew.

Tress loved a good mystery. If she were here, I'm sure she would have a theory about what happened to them.

Command has ordered us to hold position and protect the ship until they can send the Dervish out to tow her back to Starbase 375 for analysis.

Until then, I think I'll transport over and see this enigma for myself. Ships don't just appear without explanation.

I won't be satisfied until I know what the explanation is.

Captain’s Log (Recorded on Stardate 86963.65 by Admiral Mirren Sola, Starbase 375)

There are three abandoned Jem'Hadar vessels here now, and the U.S.S. Kirk has located another in the Pi Canis Sector Block.

Starfleet Intelligence reports that the Klingons have found similar abandoned ships. If they have, they aren't talking. We could ask D'Vak to broach the subject with them, but I think he has enough problems.

I've tasked my first officer with contacting the Dominion. So far our messages have gone unanswered.

DS9 isn't reporting any trouble with communications through the wormhole, so as far as we know the hails are reaching them.

The Dominion simply isn't responding.

For now, I have a SCE team studying the vessels to see what we can learn about them. I'm sure the Klingons are doing the same.

Starship Details

The Jem'Hadar Attack Ship is a small starship, similar to an Escort or Destroyer. The staple ship of the Dominion fleet, these ships were used with deadly effect during the Dominion War. Small, fast and maneuverable, the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship packs a punch that is larger than expected for a ship of its size.

Recently a handful of these vessels have been found adrift and abandoned in the Alpha Quadrant and both Starfleet and the Klingon Defense Force have been scrambling to acquire as many of these derelicts as possible for study. The ships are always found undamaged, but with all systems offline and registering unusually high neutrino signatures. The ships are models commonly seen in the late 24th century, but all appear to be in prime condition.

The Dominion has not expressed any interest in retrieving these ships, and has not responded to subspace messages sent from Qo'noS or Deep Space Nine. For now, the appearance of the Jem'Hadar Attack Ships remains a mystery.
