Star Trek Online

It's Time for a New Genesis

By Ambassador Kael | Fri 18 Jun 2021 09:00:00 AM PDT

Just as the Genesis Project was said to “bring life from lifelessness,” the Star Trek Online Zen Store will soon be graced with a new starship bundle promising to do the same for two beloved ship classes that have never before existed at Tier 6, bringing a new life to these ships that have long languished as only Tier 1 starships.

The “New Genesis Bundle” will be available on PC starting on June 24th, 2021, for 7500 Zen. From June 24th til July 1st,  the bundle will be 35% off! It includes updated state-of-the-art variants of both of the following starships:

  • Malachowski-class:  Now updated as the Clarke Multi-Mission Command Cruiser!
  • Oberth-class:  Now updated as the Grissom Light Science Vessel!

Of special note: The Malachowski and Clark variants have been added to the Federation Light Cruiser family. This means that captains who purchase the Clarke Multi-Mission Command Cruiser will be able to use the customization options available to the Advanced Light Cruiser on their new ship, and vice versa. This unlocks a wide variety of starship visual options that include the Malachowski, Miranda, Centaur, and more! (Note: the original Tier 1 Malachowski Light Cruiser remains unique to the Discovery era and cannot use the additional Miranda-variant parts.)

For its part, the Grissom-Class Light Science Vessel also includes the classic Oberth-class, available in Motion Picture and Next Generation-era variants.

Please note: these two ships will also be available as separate purchases outside the New Genesis Bundle.

Alongside these two new starships, the New Genesis Bundle will also include a number of additional items, thematically tied to the appearances of the Oberth and Miranda during the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Each of these will be available for reclaim for each character on your entire account. These will include:

  • Genesis Ground Vanity Device*
  • Outfit Box – The Wrath of Khan Captain’s Vest
  • Outfit Box – The Wrath of Khan Engineer’s Vest
  • Outfit Box – The Wrath of Khan Excursion Jacket
  • Type II Phaser Compression Pistol (C. 2285)

Additional value is also included in this bundle in the form of the following one-time inclusions (no reclaim available):

  • 2x Experimental Starship Upgrade Tokens
  • 2x Fleet Ship Modules

This ship bundle will also be available to players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at a later date.

Read on for additional details regarding the stats and capabilities of these new starships!

Clarke Multi-Mission Command Cruiser (T6)

Starfleet has a longstanding tradition of coming to the aid of other starships in need, regardless of their allegiance. In light of this established standard operating procedure, it is no surprise that the brightest engineers among its ranks have chosen to focus the design of one of their newer ship classes specifically on the role of providing support and aid to other vessels in need. The Clarke Multi-Mission Command Cruiser was purpose-built to serve as the vanguard of reinforcement fleets, bringing with it a wide array of potential life-saving technology in the form of its Command Specialist capabilities. Additionally, despite only being a mid-sized cruiser, this vessel boasts a hangar bay able to house a wing of support vessels of any configuration its captain sees fit to equip.

This starship features a Commander Engineering/Command Specialist Bridge Officer Seat.

Console – Universal – Genesis Seed

Although the Genesis Project was ultimately a failure for its intended purpose, the ramifications of the various cutting-edge research that went into its development are still studied and adapted for newer applications by ambitious scientists and engineers with some regularity within the Federation.

This latest iteration is built to leech energy and matter from foes in the region near the unstable planetoid that is created when the device is detonated in space, manifesting as Radiation damage and power drain. The planetoid will utilize the gathered resources to grow in size and power until it quickly reaches its explosive finale, further damaging and disabling foes within the blast radius, and will do so more rapidly if there are a large number of enemy targets within its vicinity.

This console also provides a passive bonus to Drain Expertise, and Radiation Damage.

Console Tooltip:

  • 135' targeting arc
  • Create a Genesis Seed 5km straight forward
  • To up to 10 Foes within 5km of the Genesis Seed:
    • Up to (VALUE) Radiation Damage per sec (ignores shields, increases each second)
    • -(VALUE) All Subsystem Energy for 5 sec
    • Gain +1 Seed Energy each sec, per Foe
  • After 30 sec, or at 120 Seed Energy reached, to Foes within 10km:
    • Up to (VALUE) Kinetic Damage (50% Shield Penetration) (scales within Seed Energy)
    • Up to (VALUE) Repel (scales with Seed Energy)
    • Disable for (VALUE) sec

Starship Trait – Greater Than the Sum

Activating Emergency Power to Auxiliary, or any Command Bridge Officer Ability, will provide a bonus to yourself and allies within 5km which increases All Subsystem Power, Hull Regeneration, and Shield Regeneration for 10 seconds. The effectiveness of this increase scales up with the number of allies affected, up to a max of 10 (including self). This effect may only be triggered once every 10 seconds.

Allies counted when determining this scaling will include only Players, and Pets owned by Players. This will include most targetable summons, including hangar pets, large pets (such as Saucer Separation), and ships summoned via bridge officer abilities and devices, but excludes targetable torpedoes, mines, and some other minor temporary constructs.

Starship Trait Tooltip:

  • To Self and Up to 10 Allies within 5km, for 10 sec:
    • +2 - +20 All Power Levels (based on number of targets)
    • Restore 0.3% - 3% of Max Hull and Max Shields each sec (based on number of targets)

Grissom Light Science Vessel

The design of this quintessential science vessel has finally been updated for the modern era, while maintaining as many of the unconventional charms of its original design as was possible. From the sensitive sensor equipment housed in its semi-detached lower mission pod, to the tightly packed and heavily-shielded warp nacelles, this updated design has inherited many of the unique benefits of its famed lineage, while also benefiting from the enhanced engineering standards present on Federation vessels of the early-25th century. This upgraded design has been named after the ill-fated science vessel responsible for surveying the equally ill-fated Genesis Planet, which bore the design of the original Oberth-class into some measure of note.

This starship features a Commander Science / Temporal Operative Specialist Bridge Officer Seat.

Console – Universal – Phased-Space Membrane

This technology was adapted from scrapped technology found amidst classified documentation, which was originally tested aboard the U.S.S. Pegasus. It is capable of forming a thin membrane of phased space just beyond the ship's deflector shields. This envelope negates the physical properties of hostile sources of physical and kinetic damage that attempt to pass through it, by forcing them to phase out of normal space. Hostile energy is also affected, but the field takes time to charge-up in order to have an impact. Simultaneously, the field can also charge-up over time to bestow benefits on the ship's outgoing torpedo weapons.

This experimental technology draws a great deal of power from the ship's Auxiliary Subsystem while active, and will turn off automatically if that subsystem is drained to zero, or goes offline. Manually enhancing the ship's Auxiliary Subsystem while the field is being generated (such as using Batteries) can allow it to be maintained longer.

This console also provides a passive bonus to Power Transfer Rate, and Shield Hardness.

Console Tooltip:

  • -20 Current Auxiliary Power each sec for up to 20 sec (deactivates if Auxiliary Power is zero)
  • Power Transfer Rate capped at 250%
  • Immunity to Physical and Kinetic Damage
  • +20 to +400 All Other Damage Resistance Rating (increases each sec)
  • +20% to +400% Bonus All Damage with Torpedo Weapons (increases each sec)

Starship Trait – By The Book

Activating Bridge Officer Abilities that create Anomalies, or any Temporal Bridge Officer Ability, will extend the duration of all of your active Bridge Officer Anomalies by 2 seconds. This cannot extend any Anomaly's duration beyond double its original value.

Bridge Officer Anomalies include: Gravity Well, Tyken's Rift, Subspace Vortex, Ionic Turbulence, Timeline Collapse, Chronometric Inversion Field, and Very Cold In Space.

Starship Trait Tooltip:

  • When activated: Extend Durations of All Active Bridge Officer Anomalies by 2 sec

Fleet Starships

Each of the above starships also has Fleet versions being made available simultaneously with their release on the Z-Store. Fleets wishing to unlock and obtain these upgraded variants must have progressed their Starbase’s Shipyard to Tier II.

The base price for these Tier 6 Fleet Starships is 20,000 Fleet Credits and 5 Fleet Ship Modules. However, purchasing the New Genesis Bundle reduces the Fleet Ship Module price from 5 down to 1 for each of these vessels. Your Fleet must also have the appropriate Provisions in stock.
