Hello again adventurers, game designer Douglas Miller here. In my last blog I discussed upcoming improvements to artifact weapon refinement. Today I’m here to talk about a major overhaul of the Trade Bar Store.
This overhaul has been a long time coming as the trade bar store has been neglected almost since the launch of Neverwinter. Trade bars are a currency found in lockboxes, meant to provide you with access to additional rewards, above and beyond what you might have already received. They can also serve as a second chance at a rare artifact or a key to exciting and unique rewards.
With this update, we’re making some big changes and improvements to that store. Here’s a brief overview of the changes coming:
These changes are big, and we think they’re going to be a welcome improvement for everyone. I want to touch briefly on those items that will be moving from the Zen Market: fashion, dyes, lesser health stones and scrolls of mass life. Starting with the launch of Neverwinter: Underdark there will be a transition period where those items will be available in both the Trade Bar Store and the Zen Market. A month after launch, those items will only be available in their new home, the trade bar store.
A little insight into why we’re making these changes—we know it’s a tough decision for many whether to spend on cosmetics like fashion or convenience and refinement. We wanted to simplify fashion and make the experience of spending on cosmetics more rewarding. Not only will fashion sets now be more consistently priced, but you’ll be paying almost the same in lockbox keys as you would have buying that fashion directly from the Zen Market. Only now you’ll be getting plenty of bonus goodies from lockboxes along the way.
We are making one small change to existing companions: the fire archon and phase spider, currently available in the trade bar store in epic and rare qualities respectively will now be sold at uncommon quality for a reduced price. When upgraded the phase spider and fire archon will be just as strong as the current versions of those companions.
Seeing is believing as they say, and I know everyone is eager to see a list of what’s being added and what the prices will be, so here’s a sneak peek at a few items:
