Neverwinter

Winter Festival Event Preview

By Akromatik | Wed 10 Dec 2014 10:00:00 AM PST

“In the village of Twilight Tor,

The Simril lanterns glow.

As gift-givers, merrymakers, and otherwise celebrants,

Revel in falling snow.” – Janus Thistlebrim, Wandering Minstrel

As the days grow shorter and the nights longer in Faerûn, the denizens of the Sword Coast are reminded that the much-loved winter celebration, Simril, is close at hand. Simril is the celebration of the winter solstice. Falling on the longest night of the year, the cheer and merriment exuded by its celebrants intentionally contrasts with the cold, dark night in which it takes place.

Mayor Vario Cepheid in the village of Twilight Tor has invited the people of Neverwinter to join him in his mountain hamlet for a Simril celebration like no other! In fact, the celebration is so immense and lavish that rather than limit the holiday to one night, the villagers of Twilight Tor have decided to prolong the festivities for three weeks!

Winter Festival Begins: December 18 at 10:00 AM (PST) (When is this for you?)

Winter Festival Ends: January 8 at 10:00 AM (PST) (When is this for you?)

A celebration is nothing without gifts and this year, we’ve got something special! Each day during the Winter Festival Event, adventurers can look forward to receiving a Starlight Voucher from the Starlight Giftmaster in Twilight Tor. This boisterous Dwarven lass will bestow a player with one Starlight Voucher each day during the Winter Festival. The golden voucher can be used to obtain a Starlight Parcel for free. The brightly colored Starlight Parcels can contain gifts exchanged during Winter Festival in addition to items from other Neverwinter celebrations! What’s even better is that you will unlock the chance to receive even rarer items as you open more Starlight Parcels, so be sure to pay the Starlight Giftmaster a visit every day during the festival.

Bathed in the warm glow of lanterns, the snow-kissed village of Twilight Tor invites revelers from all over the Sword Coast to participate in the seasonal games and ceremonies enjoyed by its residents.

The Winter Festival activities include:

- The Twilight Run – Feel the icy wind rush through your hair as you race around Lake Glorfindar on your favorite mount, your feet, or even the magical Winter Sled!

- Monsters on Ice – No party is complete without those that wish to see it destroyed. Keep the celebration going by pummeling Frost Goblins, Ice Trolls, and Rimefire Golems all while slipping about on an icy lake. Compete with other Simril celebrants to see who can defeat the most icy interlopers in the time provided!

- Ice Fishing – Lake Glorfindar is famous for its ice fishing, so you mustn’t pass up this chance! Collect rare bait and find higher-quality rods to cement your place as an ace angler! Catch rare fish and collect the most points in this contest to earn even more Lights of Simril to exchange for rare prizes.

- Star Gazing – Gaze up at the starry winter sky and glimpse the various constellations that make their homes in the sky above Faerûn. Some lucky stargazers may even receive a blessing from the heavenly bodies themselves!

- Simril Lightcrafting – Collect Lights of Simril and shape them into various wintery items with the Simril Lightcrafting profession!

- Holiday Event Items – Use Lights of Simril and Stars of Fortune to obtain Sparkling Weapon Transmutes, cozy scarves, the Winter Sled and Dappled Riding Horse mounts, the Frost Mimic and Fawn of Shiallia companions, and much more!

Grab your finest furs and raise a glass of Lightwine as we rein in this jubilant holiday in Neverwinter. Winter is coming, and we couldn’t be happier!
