Greetings adventurers, Asterdahl here to bring you news on the upcoming epic trials—Assault on Svardborg and Assault on Svardborg (Master)!
A quick refresher, as it was not long ago that the terms epic trial and master were introduced: An epic trial is a 10 man encounter with role restrictions (i.e. a certain number of tanks, healers and dps are required) that pits adventurers against a single momentous boss battle. Master simply indicates a higher level or more difficult version of another piece of content.
Back to the exciting bits—Assault on Svardborg will pit 10 adventurers against the leader of the frost giants, Jarl Storvald himself. With the ring of winter under his control the Jarl will prove to be the strongest foe to date for the Sword Coast's legendary adventurers. The team has pulled out all the stops to make this the most challenging, exciting and visually stunning encounter in Neverwinter to date! But I'll let Jarl Storvald speak for himself:
Those of you who have faced Drufi, Storvald's right hand, will see some familiar mechanics return, remixed in new and interesting ways befitting a 10 man encounter. We'll also be introducing a number of new mechanics that will test your group's coordination like never before.
You'll need all the help you can get if you hope to take on Storvald. In the Sea of Moving ice you'll recover even more long lost relics stolen by the giants, storied artifact weapons from a bygone age. Restore them and bring them to bear against the Jarl and you just might stand a chance.
Should you survive the encounter and prevail you'll find unique gemstones with large refinement bonuses when used on your relic weapons. You'll also be upgrading your new relic weapons with special rune marks as opposed to the usual marks of power, stability and union. Achieving the legendary rank of a relic weapon will require conquering Assault on Svardborg (Master) and will be a true testament to the wielder's skill and power.
You'll be able to earn extra rewards by supporting your allies, the Elk Tribe, the Arcane Brotherhood and the Storm Giants in your fight against the Frost Giants. Support them in the Sea of Moving Ice and in the Assault on Svardborg they'll present you with a cache of loot they pillaged during the battle. Think of these bonus rewards like chest keys you can store a limited number of without using up any of your inventory space. An upcoming campaign blog will go into more details about the system.
Get ready to test your mettle against the Jarl when The Sea of Moving Ice goes live on PC soon!
