Hello Torchlight III family,

 

We’ve just released the huge Relic Subclass update and it’s been amazing to finally see it released on Early Access. Watching all of our players create and chat about their favorite new builds, discussing the Relics in a more vibrant way, is EXACTLY what we were hoping to achieve. We are closely following the community’s chatter about recent changes and are working our way through the feedback and bug reports that players have submitted since the update. We are discussing the various ways we can improve relics and other parts of the game, but you’ve given us some great ideas and feedback to start with. 

 

We are also still working to resolve performance problems for those who are still seeing some issues in multiplayer or in high-fx situations. Additionally, we are scooping up the most interesting and trending feedback at http://tl3feedback.echtragames.com and will be working to sort out feature update priority for both pre and post-launch patches.

And since we have your attention we wanted to take this time to put out a public service announcement from our team on how to report bugs.

We are now in the stages and process of preparing this game for launch. All that stands between now and launch is a big bug list and all your amazing feedback. We remain eager for your bug info, reproduction steps, and feedback. Even if you feel like it’s something you’ve reported before, please don’t hesitate to ask for an update in Discord. We are in a quest to crush as many of them as possible before that time and we could use your help in making sure we have all the info to reproduce and solve any critical or ongoing issues. We can’t fix it if we don’t know about it, and that’s where you come in.

P.S. About the little Alpaca problem in McTyre’s Cove... According to a very quick and unresearched Google search “How Much Land Do Backyard Alpacas Need?” owntheyard.com states that “Alpacas need around one acre of land per every five animals. You could potentially keep up to ten alpacas on one acre. However, you'll need to provide them with hay at least once or twice a day to supplement their diet, since grazing grass on one acre is a limited space.”

It sounds like we are going to need to help these poor Alpacas, we don’t have enough wood logs to keep this a sustainable living situation for them.

 

HOW TO REPORT A BUG!
The best way for us to resolve an issue is with visual/audio reporting (screenshots, audio, video), logs, debug info, and reproducible steps. Other useful information might include: if you were playing in a party, if you noticed any additional strange behavior, if others have experienced the same issue, etc.

(It is better to upvote a current/existing bug or suggestion than to create a new, duplicate ticket.)

  • You can send additional information, like logs, to feedback@echtra.net with your Nolt link in the body of the email.
  • You can discuss bugs on Discord, but they may not get a full review without a Nolt ticket, debug info, logs, or other details.

     

Debug Info

Good for instance specific issues like missing chests, bosses, monsters, funky portals, etc.

  • CTRL + D (while in-game) copies your Debug information to your clipboard.
  • Cry and eat some night cheese.
  • Paste this information to a text doc, Discord, or our Support Center (Nolt) to report.

 

Game Logs

Good for travel issues, combat issues, rubberbanding/lag, odd failures/issues, inability to log in.

  • Logs can be found in your %localappdata%\Frontiers\Saved\Logs windows folder.
  • If you can’t find them, they are a text file named “frontiers”, you might be able to search Windows for them.

 

Unreal Engine Crashes

Good for Unreal Engine crashes…

  • Use the ‘Report’ feature on the Crash Reporter and we will receive the logs and your noted details.

 

Videos & Screenshots
Visual/audio media say a thousand things that other information cannot!

  • Enable the Steam community overlay in Steam's settings.
  • You can remove the UI in-game by pressing F10 (if needed). 
  • Pressing F12 is the default way to take Steam screenshots. 
  • Navigate to Steam to find where they are located on your system. (You can find it on the Steam game page if you right-click on the screenshots from there and select 'Manage Screenshots' you can find where they are on your system.
  • Windows + G will open up the Windows game bar, which has media recording functionality.

 

 

We are always in a continuing process to scrub and review bugs that have been reported to our Support Center, but we wanted to highlight a few of the most critical, highly reported, and consistent issues players are still encountering and any updates we might have for those specific problems. This is not an exhaustive or complete list of reported issues.

The next big update is scheduled for 08/18/2020, includes downtime, and contains fixes for all of the following issues:

 

Unreal Crashes

It appears that there has been an increase in Unreal Crashes since the Relic Subclass update to the Live version. Submitting these crash reports through the Unreal Crash Reporter will send the logs directly to us for review.

 

Zephoras is nowhere in the Venomous Nest.

Players are reporting they are unable to find Zephoras in the Venomous Nest. Two of these seeds are currently broken. A fix is ready for an upcoming update.

 

Forged Heat display is not correctly updating.

Players are reporting that the Heat gauge is not updating for skills. A fix is readied for an upcoming update.

 

Unlocking Tier 1 of the Poison Dart causes its poison cloud to stop dealing damage, which also blocks the tier 3 of the ability

Inventory Full icon stays on when Inventory is empty

Players reporting "Inventory Full" error messages, when inventories are not full. A fix is ready to be pushed.

 

'You have unspent skill points!' Icon remains active after spending all points.

OPEN ISSUES

 

Cannot open pet cage in Thorned Ingress

Players have reported an inability to open chests in Thorned Ingress. Please post debug logs to the link above to help us resolve this issue. 

 

There is not supposed to be a secret alpaca level.

Someone is getting an animal welfare check in McTyre's Cove to check on these poor alpaca living conditions.

 

Players have described travelling to a Blue Void (dead space). Post Relic Subclass Update.

Lag, Desync, and Rubberbanding - Post Relic Subclass update

Some players are reporting issues with performance/lag/rubberbanding after the latest update. Please send us any details, logs, and debug info you can in order for us to better resolve hitches, lag, loading screen issues, and other areas of stability.

 

Killing Spinderella does not give you credit for completing The Recluse quest.

Klive appears to randomly disappear or move in the fort which can cause confusion when trying to complete quests. Completing the Monument quest by talking to Klive should resolve this issue. A couple fixes for this issue are being readied for an upcoming update.

 

Players are reporting they are unable to claim chests stuck behind NPCs

TROUBLESHOOTING

 

Nameplates appear to be broken!

This is a change in behavior, not a bug. See the most recent patch notes. If there is a desire to change this, please post and upvote a Nolt ticket.


"No Platform Available" error message or other issues involving login.

  • This bug indications the player is unable to properly connect to the platform (Steam).
  • This appears to sometimes resolve itself after resetting Steam.
  • This appears to happen when a firewall, anti-virus, torrenter, or other 3rd party software is blocking access.
  • This appears to happen if your internet service provider is blocking the game/Steam.
  • This appears to happen when you open from the .exe file and not from the Steam Library.
  • This appears to happen if you are not connected (or Steam believes you are not connected) to Steam properly.
  • This appears to happen to users who used to be able to play via Steam Proton. 
  • This appears to potentially happen if your clock is not properly set.
  • This appears to happen sometimes to other Windows users who are not related to any of the above. Current debugging ongoing. If you are able to plug in a controller and see better results or/and have reviewed the issues above and are still unable to play, please send us your logs (see above).
  • Asimilar error occurs if your game is set as an Administrator. Remove this from your game's settings to play.
