A strange malady has begun affecting people across the Sword Coast and beyond. Victims have contracted a strange sickness that causes them to start rotting to pieces. This “death curse” cannot be cured by normal or magical means, and the source of the illness is unclear. Can you help these beleaguered people find a remedy?

A Journey to Helm’s Hold

The story begins with a journey to Helm’s Hold Cathedral, where those affected by the death curse gather in great numbers, all seeking a cure for their condition. One trait the victims all have in common: they have all died and brought back to life by resurrection magic.

Expedition to Chult

A mysterious benefactor believes the source of the death curse lies in the far-off Chult, and is willing to help fund an expedition there. Gathering together many stalward companions – including the master explorer and raconteur Volothemp Geddarm! – a ship soon sets sail towards distant Port Nyanzaru.

Dangers of Chult

The journey to Chult is fraught with peril, and many dangers must be overcome before reaching the relative safety of the Chultan city of Port Nyanzaru. Seven Merchant Princes hold sway in the port city, far from the noble houses of the Sword Coast. 

Seeking the Cure

Once the expedition crew is settled into their new base of operations, there are still many questions that need to be answered. What is the source of the death curse? Who is their mysterious benefactor who funded the expedition? What further dangers must they face within the wild jungles of Chult?
