Neverwinter is a gear-focused game. Not only does most of your combat effectiveness come from your equipped items, but they’re also what make your character look cool. Therefore, you want to see what an item will look like on you before you take the plunge and buy or equip it. After all, that chef’s hat might clash with your faerie wings!
Until now, you could use the “Change Item Appearance” window to see how a single item in your inventory would look on you. But that didn’t help you choose a whole outfit, or see if items that you didn’t own in the auction house or the Collections window would suit you.
The new Gear Preview feature lets you see how any equippable item will look on you, whether you own it or not. Anywhere you see an item tooltip, you will be able to right-click or use the context menu to bring up the Gear Preview window and see that item on your character. This includes, but isn’t limited to, the Collections window, the Tarmalune Trade House, the Zen Market, item links in chat, inspecting other players, quest reward lists and the Trade window. If an item had been dyed or transmuted, that will be reflected in the Gear Preview.
The previewed items can be shown by themselves, with each other, or in combination with your currently equipped gear. You won’t have to rely on the pictures in the Collections or the Zen Market anymore.
(The pictures in the Collections window are great, but they don’t show my character.. Now I can right-click on an item to see how it looks on me when combined with my own equipment.)
(Right-clicking on an item in the collection will show the Gear Preview window, with that item replacing my normally equipped item. My Guardian Fighter looks good with these gauntlets!)
(I can keep right-clicking on Collection items to add them to my preview.)
The Gear Preview window is similar to the Character Sheet, with the same item slots. In the Gear Preview, though, the menu for each slot shows a history of the items that you’ve already previewed, as well as a list of items in your inventory that you could preview.
In addition, there is an animation chooser that lets you actually see how a weapon will look when you use it, and you can even preview items that your class cannot wear!
We can’t wait to see the streets of Protector’s Enclave filled with fashionable adventurers!
