Neverwinter

Xbox Guild Spotlight: Casual Gamers

By Andy (StrumSlinger) | Fri 20 Nov 2015 10:00:00 AM PST

What's the story behind how your guild was founded?
One night, a week before the arrival of Strongholds, some players to remain unknown here were scouting the forums trying to decide if they should stay away from the guilds and crowds, join one of the existing Neverwinter guilds with all their common requirements and expectations, or maybe make a bold move and bring a new guild to life – a guild which would be exactly what they want it to be – a guild with no pressure yet with a team spirit, one where you can open up or stay solitary if you choose to.

So one of us, which happened to be me, went ahead and made a mad run around Protector Enclave asking strangers to please, please, stay a while in a group long enough so that I can register a new guild. And that’s how the guild Aaaaaa was founded.

How did your guild choose its name?
The original name, Aaaaaa, was chosen due to the lack of time. The problem is that to register a guild you need full party of 5 cooperating players level 15 or above to come together in the same instance of Protector Enclave. But if you are trying to start a guild all alone you have to ask strangers to help you with the registration, so you better be quick and not spend time thinking about the name, or they would change their mind and walk away. Which is why it was Aaaaaa initially.

Soon after, many different names were considered to describe the idea of the guild, and Casual Gamers was the most common way of describing someone who is not a hardcore gamer, though I think many of us are semi-hardcore gamers anyway, we just don’t want to admit it.

As an afterthought, it’s kind of convenient to be called Causal Gamers. If you lose in a fight to another player or guild – it’s OK we are casual players after all. And if you win – wow, guys, we are casual players and we beat them. We could be proud.

What's the message you want conveyed about your guild?
We are proud of being Casual Gamers. We want you to come and play with us, but it’s OK if you move to a different more specialized guild later on once you figured out that you want to be, say, a hard core PvP or a crafter. We want to stay friends with other guilds as much as we can.

Before I forgot. It would be really-really awesome if you play, at least partially, between 10:00 PM and 2:00 AM PST on weekdays. OK. How about between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM PST? We need to concentrate our forces if we want to kill those bad dragons.

If your guild had a superpower, what would it be?
If every guild had a super power, ours would be to understand each other without words.

Any favorite hang-out spots?
Stronghold Ward, aka courtyard of our castle.

If your guild was surrounded by a horde of zombies from the Dread Ring, what would you do?
We would fight till the last injury kit and then, once overwhelmed, flee and pretend this never happened.

What's one of the best guild events you've done?
So far we are just getting to know each other in our very new guild. We have successfully completed all the Stronghold encounters and had a few dragon fight attempts, ending miserably… Happy thoughts, happy thoughts, happy thoughts.

If you could name your Stronghold, what would it be?
Hmm…need help with this question. Maybe… Home? So the new players don’t get lost…

If your guild was an animal, what would it be?
Something very cute and adorable. We want to be friends with all sapient beings. Can I say a Unikitty here? If no, then a pony.

Who can players contact if they want either more information or want to join the guild?
Any one in our guild can invite to the guild. So just use the Find Guild window in the game or leave a message in our forum thread.

Any final comments?
Come play with us. We are what you are.
Water the plants.
