Design A Duty Officer Contest Winners

By LaughingTrendy | Mon 29 Dec 2014 02:18:06 PM PST

We're pleased to announce that our official Design A Duty Officer Contest has come to a close! There were many amazing entries that were showcased both in our Art of Star Trek Online thread and on our official Twitter account @trekonlinegaming! The team here at Star Trek Online were blown away by all the great entries from our Captains! After much deliberation, we wanted to showcase three outstanding winners for their submissions to our contest.

Congratulations to our winners - your examples show what you can do with creativity, digital editing, and your love for Star Trek!

Our winners are...

3rd Place Winner: captainhunter1

Our third place winner goes to captainhunter1, for the creation of the Caitain M'Rea as a Duty Officer.

Captainhunter1 entered this submission, including multiple touches to detail. The use of icons from in-game, such as the Department, Traits, and Insignia pips help make this Officer feel more realistic.

The constructed hair show a particular level of effort in creating this officer, as a wonderful reference to a certain feline from Star Trek: The Animated Series.

2nd Place Winner: plusmano

Our second place winner goes to plusmano for their card Fina. This officer is a call back to Star Trek: TOS "Let That Be Your Last Battlefied"

The Cheron were a species with duo-chromatic skin. They had a particularly striking appearance, with one side of their skin completely white and one side completely black. The Cheron segemented themselves depending on which variation their skin tone was. Their society continued to segment itself, eventually leading to civil war. The Cheron destroyed themselves, almost completely wiping their species from existence over this conflict.

This was both a great reference to the series, as well as an example of strong editing skills to create the duo-chromatic Cheron species. The text was cleanly edited onto the DOFF card, including the use of all the icons.

1st Place Winner: Jan Darkrider

Our first place winner goes to Jan Darkrider, for the creation of her Captain as a Duty Officer.

This is an excellent recreation of her Captain, as well as a Duty Officer from in game. This card features a bunch of fine touches that really makes it stand out. From the "Current Status" section to adding "Bound" this card showcases a fine attention to detail.

Jan Darkrider went above and beyond in the creation of her Duty Officer and her skills earn her 1st place in the Design a Duty Officer contest.

Congratulations to all of our winners and everyone who submitted their work. Check out our thread for many more amazing submissions to the contest. We're proud of all the great work and submissions from our community.

Thank you so much everyone. Stay tuned for our next contest.
