A dense fog descended upon Praia a few months ago, and surprises continue to emerge from the mist. Recently a group of hunters, stalking the shadows of Idmar's Forest, came upon a mysterious cave hidden in a dense thicket.
And there begins the tale:
...An icy blast and howling wind met the hunters as they explored the menacing vaults of the mysterious cave. Silver and blue veins wove fascinating patterns across the walls. The brave hunters descended to scout the depths and discover the cause of the incredible play of light and shadow. But before they went ten steps, their beards were covered with frost, their hands began to stiffen as they choked on the freezing air. As they pushed on, dozens of frozen faces clung to the walls, staring at the hunters; their empty eyes staring into nothingness. Not wanting to end of like the corpses, the hunters fled back home.
Later, sitting around the fire and sipping hot tea, the hunters spoke with their commander of their discovery. Recognizing the cave from a legend, the commander told the story of what he thought was hidden in its dark depths.
Legend has it that once upon a time long past, the young son of a lord was imprisoned and sentenced to death. His faithful squire helped him escape, but was killed as he defended the young lord. The death of his close friend hardened the heart of the young man with guilt. He turned away from his past and retreated into the depths of Landay's Mountains, where he trained his body and practiced magic forbidden by the superstitions of the people who once served him. The fugitive scrounged a meager survival, gratefully receiving food and other necessities from the local residents, and in return he defended the local settlements from robbers and Chud. The mountain people learned to respect the hermit and came to think of him as their patron, despite the mysteries of his arrival.
One day, after the Mist appeared, an unidentified clan of armed men attacked the settlement. The former young lord hurried back after hearing screams, but he was too late: not a single soul survived. Once again, he was unable to protect his loved ones. As he looked upon the bodies of the dead, the tears froze in his eyes and his heart turned to ice. Only one thought remained: he would avenge the deaths of his people. The hermit rushed into the dense fog to pursue the killers, but to no avail. Blinded by rage, he lost his footing and accidentally fell into an underground cave filled with Prime. As his mind and body were already torn by revenge, he absorbed the Prime and fused with the ice that surrounded it. He created a tomb of ice for the dead settlers in the cave that he now called his home. Prime coursed through the ground among the stalagmites, and its light fell upon the fallen. Their mystic reflections decorated the walls of the cave with the same strange patterns that attracted the attention of the hunters.
With Prime raging through his veins, he now thirsts only for revenge. A new hero serves the Lords of Praia. And his name is Freeze.
