Console Reputations

By LaughingTrendy | Mon 14 Nov 2016 09:00:00 AM PST

The 1.2 Console Update will introduce two additional reputations which require player assistance in the face of two looming threats: the Borg, and the Iconians and their Herald servitors. Captains who choose to assist in fighting the Borg can progress their standing with the Task Force Omega, while captains who repel the Iconian threat can advance in the Iconian Resistance. Each reputation provides captains with substantial benefits, such as new weapons, equipment, and traits. Like all reputations, captains may progress within all reputations simultaneously.

Task Force Omega

With the re-emergence of the Borg threat on the Vega colony and their actions on Defera, both Starfleet and the Klingon Defense Force recognized a need to work together to stop them from expanding. Task Force Omega was established as a joint effort to seek out and prevent Borg initiatives within the Beta Quadrant. Captains who respond to Borg Red Alerts and assist in forming strike teams against key Borg targets are recognized by the Task Force, and can receive Omega Marks and Borg Neural Processors for their efforts.

Omega Marks are primarily used to rise through the ranks of the Task Force Omega reputation, and can be earned by completing most tasks related to the Borg threat, such as Normal and Advanced Borg queues, and Borg Red Alerts. Additionally, progressing through the reputation gives captains Task Force Omega Equipment Requisitions, which allow for outfitting ships and officers with Anti-Borg weaponry. Borg Neural Processors are primarily found from Advanced and/or Elite queues. Containing records of all the information the drone received from the Collective, they can be exchanged for potent sets with unique appearances, including outfitting your ship with assimilated Borg technology.

Each tier of progression through the Task Force Omega reputation unlocks access to a series of new space and ground traits to further improve your capabilities, such as increasing your captain’s energy weapon and melee damage, or your starship’s shield regeneration rate. The final tier unlocks the Medical Nanite Cloud Active Trait; a ground ability which massively heals the captain and all nearby allies, with a chance to revive unconscious allies.

Iconian Resistance

“Demons of Air and Darkness”, the Iconians had subtly manipulated events throughout the galaxy for hundreds of years in preparation for their return. The destruction of the Hobus system and activation of their gateway network on New Romulus led to a full-on assault of the Alpha, Beta, and Delta Quadrants. Their Herald shock troops and highly advanced gateway technology quickly overwhelmed many worlds, leading to the formation of the Iconian Resistance. Member species include the Talaxians and Krenim of the Delta Quadrant, Starfleet, the Klingon Defense Force, and the Romulan Republic; all franticly working together to find some sort of vulnerability to stop the Herald fleets. Seeking any advantage possible, the Iconian Resistance recognizes Captains who collect Iconian Marks and Iconian Probe Datacores.

Iconian Marks are used to progress within the Iconian Resistance reputation, and can be earned by completing tasks and queues related to the Herald threat. Progressing through the reputation gives captains Iconian Resistance Equipment Requisitions. These requisitions can contain Radiant Antiproton weaponry, a powerful defensive option against the Iconian’s onslaught. Iconian Probe Datacores contain critical information regarding Iconian technology, giving the Resistance an opportunity to study their weaknesses. Acquired from Advanced and/or Elite queues, they can be exchanged for new sets with unique appearances, including the option to unlock an ability which increases the damage, hull, and flight speed for your whole team.

Each tier of progression through the Iconian Resistance Reputation further unlocks access to space and ground traits, such as increasing the damage of your captain’s kit modules, or giving your ship’s weapons a chance to cause radiation damage in a small area. The final tier unlocks the Deploy Sensor Interference Platform Active Trait; a space ability which deploys a sensor interference platform. While active, the sensor interference platform taunts all foes into attacking it, and reduces the damage of attackers who attack other targets instead.

The abilities mentioned above are just a fraction of what each reputation has to offer. Ready your weapons, your ship, and your crew to defend the quadrant against these new threats!
