Neverwinter

Player Spotlight - Alustrial Færÿdae

By Akromatik | Tue 30 Dec 2014 02:07:44 PM PST

The Neverwinter community is incredibly dedicated and we see it come out every day whether it’s in-game, on livestreams, or on our forums. We decided that it’s about time we highlight some of our incredibly dedicated community members and get to know them a little better.

For this player spotlight, we turn our attention to the mastermind behind the guild Team Fencebane, the official guild of Neverwinter community managers Sominator and Akromatik. She's also a regular in our Neverwinter livestreams and her character, Alustrial Færÿdae, can rock the Feywild Regalia like no other! We're talking about @Kreatyve aka Manic Gypsy!

Tell us a little about yourself and your character.

Well, my character and I are 2 very different people. I am a married housewife in Ohio with a slight gaming addiction. My main character in Neverwinter is a female drow Great Weapon Fighter named Alustrial Færÿdae (pronounced fairy-day). She is fearless, as most drow women tend to be, with her legendary artifact weapon, and 17.8k gear score (currently).

What was the main reason you decided to start playing Neverwinter?

My husband had me read some his favorite books, the Legacy of Drizzt series by R. A. Salvatore, and when I got an email about a game that was in open beta that was centered around that universe, I just had to try it out.

What’s your favorite game mode/why?

I am a mainly PvE player. I really love the new dragon Heroic Encounters in Well of Dragons. It's fun to be part of a large group of players, all racing all around the zone to kill all the dragons! Seeing that "Great Success" pop up is a great feeling!

What’s your favorite in-game event/why?

The Winter Festival! I love the ice skating. I think I got a little burnt out on ice fishing last year, but just sliding around on the ice is such a fun diversion! I'm loving it! I was maining a Hunter Ranger for it last year, so it's going to be interesting to try killing all the monsters while sliding around on my GWF.

We're all gamers so we know you don't just play Neverwinter. When you're not adventuring in the Forgotten Realms, what games do you play?

I currently play World of Warcraft, and sometimes, though more rarely lately, LOTRO. Both games are interesting, and very different from Neverwinter.

What is your favorite in-game item/why?

That would have to be Tenser's Floating Disk! It looks so awesome, and I really wish I had one to go floating around on, doing flips whenever I feel like it. I haven't been lucky enough to get one yet, but I still open up those lockboxes that contain them on occasion, hoping to get lucky!

There are a lot of fans of Neverwinter who spend their free time playing the D&D in a non-digital space. How long have you been playing D&D and what is your most memorable moment?

I have never played table-top D&D before. I have always wanted to, but there aren't enough people in my community who play it.

You run the guild Team Fencebane, which isn't an easy job, what made you decide to want to do that and how do you keep your cool when things get heated?

Well, it all started last December during an Adventure Hour show that Sominator was running. There were quite a few regular viewers who tuned into every episode, and during one, I had asked Sominator if he would join the Team Fencebane guild if I created it. At first, I was a bit reluctant to call myself the official leader, as there were so many of us loyal Fencegaters (Fencegating is a term we made for knocking down the fences in Rothé Valley while waiting for events to start, we still need an achievement for it!), who watched the Adventure Hour every week. But it seemed like everyone looked up to me as the leader, so that's what I became. We haven't had too many issues, though when things come up, I generally send out a guild mail and try to get the guild together to discuss what's going on in a calm setting. I might not have always made the best decisions, but I do my best to make the guild the best it can be.

If you got the chance to decide what direction to move Neverwinter in, what would want to see in future Modules?

I would very much love to see Mithral Hall. The dark Dwarven stronghold always fasincated me in the books. With all the Dwarven treasure, and the lore there, I'm sure the design team would do a great job recreating it.

Dungeons & Dragons and Neverwinter is all about having fun in a group setting. We want you to take some time and give a shout out to all your friends who you spend time with in-game.

Well, obviously I want to say hi to all my friends in Team Fencebane! My husband, @rastiken, who has helped manage the guild while I took a little time off. All the original Team Fencebane - @dardove, @fantom3n, @Neo-gabi, @toon2012... I don't know who all I'm missing, so I'm sorry if I missed you!

Are there any gaming tips that you might be able to share with new players who might be playing Neverwinter for the very first time?

Do research. Learn about the different classes and stats. Visit the wiki. Try out all the different classes. Don't be afraid to delete a class if you decide you don't like it early on. If you enjoy the game, please help support it buy purchasing some Zen. Join a guild! Team Fencebane accepts any players who promise to never abuse exploits, and we are willing to help out new players learn about the game.

I would also like to take a moment to thank all the devs who have worked countless hours to make the game as awesome and fun as it is today! I would like to thank the community management team, Akromatik, DwightMC, and Pinpointerror (am I missing anyone?), for coming up with all the new and exciting events to keep the game fresh and entertaining! All of you are awesome, thank you for helping to make Neverwinter the fun and exciting game it is today!

Thanks for taking time to answer some questions and to allow us to get to know you a little more. As always we thank you for your dedication to Neverwinter and the hard work you put in leading Team Fencebane and getting the word out about fun comminity happenings! We can’t wait to see you in-game!
