Neverwinter

Neverwinter Bestiary - White Dragons

By DwightMC | Tue 16 Sep 2014 10:43:20 AM PDT

“White dragons or “Glacial Wyrms” are thought of as the “least intelligent” of the chromatic dragons. However, the fact remains that they are still dragons and are not to be underestimated. I’ve known countless wizards who were too smart for their own good become frozen into the walls of a white dragon’s lair after setting out to challenge these beasts…guess they weren’t so smart after all…

If their alabaster scales or icy breath didn't tip you off, white dragons prefer colder climates. Making their homes at high altitudes on mountain peaks, white dragons relish the cold and solitude that such environments afford them. This rough terrain also makes it almost impossible for their prey to escape. Even if their prey somehow manages to survive the rocky cliffs, the indigenous wildlife and the dragon, the harsh cold of these locales will most surely take the life of any adventurers foolish enough to take them on.

Content to live out their existences with a comfortable home, food supply, and treasure horde, white dragons lead rather simple lives compared to their chromatic brothers and sisters. While green dragons have their complex power schemes and blues have their insatiable vanities, white dragons are, in a way, the most “honest” of the chromatic dragons. White dragons won’t hunt out malice or to satisfy some destructive urge. White dragons hunt to survive.

Do not let their simplicity fool you. White dragons are cunning predators and masters of their terrain. For as long as the snow crunches underfoot, you’re in their domain and should always be on your guard. If my journeys in Icespire Peak have taught me anything, it’s that white dragons like Merothrax the Greedy are not to be taken lightly. I won’t pretend to know what he’s up to with the Cult of the Dragon, but if the Cult was able to convince a stubborn white dragon like him to work with them, we need to be on our guard.

In accordance with their uncomplicated lives, white dragons are probably the least vain out of all the chromatic dragons. Blue dragons, however, are an entirely different story…”
